We tell stories about projects that make a difference, creating positive change!

This mural was painted by Houston artist Jacob Messa with help of UHCL students during our 2023 Sustainable Stories Film Fest Art Gallery Opening on November 10 in the main hallway of the UHCL Bayou Building next to our gallery.
The 2025 edition of our festival will happen in three locations: University of Houston Clear Lake Bayou Theater & Art Gallery, Alvin Community College Theater & Art Gallery and the Chicago Athletic Association from October 15 to December 15.
Our Festival shows films and artwork about ideas, concepts and stories of sustainability and empowers filmmakers and artists working on sustainability-related subjects. This year's special focus is Indigenous Sustainability.
Participating films can be documentary, narrative, animation or experimental / video art. All films need to be submitted through FilmFreeway. Please see link above. All entry dates & submission modalities are laid out on FF. Participating physical artwork can be paintings, sculpture, graphic design or framed photography. This year's edition builds on four successful runs starting in 2021, in which we screened over 250 films total and exhibited over 100 pieces of physical artwork.
For the submission of physical artwork, or any festival-related questions, please reach out to Michael Brims at brims@uhcl.edu.
